Expansion & Growth
At Maguires, we think big and are continuously expanding our presence across Zimbabwe. In addition to our two main distribution centres—Maguires Head Office in Borrowdale and the Tilbury Road Depot in Willowvale—we have recently opened branches in Banket and Marondera. At these locations, you can find the full range of Maguires products, offering an extensive selection of high-quality items from our trusted suppliers.

Banket Town
We have essentially “adopted” the town and are committed to restoring it to its former vibrancy, aligning with the government’s Vision 2030. Our efforts include repainting the road curbstones at the entrance to Banket, installing a water pump and tank at the local hospital, and collaborating closely with the council on other community services where we can offer support. Additionally, we have installed street poles and lighting that not only provide advertising space but also promote messages encouraging sustainable farming practices while increasing road visibility and safety.

Banket Hotel
In 2023, we started rehabilitating the Banket Hotel which has been neglected for years. From the walls to the ceilings, to water and electricity, we have managed to get this back into operation and are using this premise as our distribution branch in Banket. In time, we are hoping to transform this whole area into a fully functioning agricultural centre for farmers and customers in the catchment area.

Lions Den
In addition to the above, we have acquired land in Lions Den, located beyond Banket Town along the Zimbabwean Railway Line. This land will be used as a siding for consolidating wood from Mutare and coal from Hwange Colliery, which will serve as curing fuel for the northern tobacco-growing regions of Zimbabwe.

Pink Day
At Maguires, we were proud to stand alongside the community in support of this year’s Pink Day — a powerful initiative honouring those affected by cancer and raising funds to bring dignity and comfort to patients undergoing chemotherapy. This year’s goal was to purchase 20 specialised chemotherapy chairs for Parirenyatwa and Mpilo Hospitals, and thanks to the incredible efforts of organisers, Peterhouse, and the broader community, that goal was exceeded. It was a day filled with meaning — from the emotional tributes to the unforgettable rugby clashes — and we were thrilled to be part of it, revving up awareness with our iconic pink tractor. Supporting initiatives like Pink Day is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to causes that matter deeply to the communities we serve.

Marondera Opening
Although trading from our Marondera depot began in December 2024, we officially celebrated its opening in March this year with a fantastic day attended by many farmers from the surrounding communities. It was a great opportunity to socialise, connect, and explore our thoughtfully and sustainably designed facilities. We hope this new depot will grow into more than just a place of business—it’s designed to be a hub for connection and community. Whether popping in to pick up supplies or simply stopping by for a chat, we look forward to welcoming customers into a space where they can meet, exchange ideas, and engage with our friendly team. The opening of this depot has also allowed us to expand our reach, supporting more community events and sponsorships, such as the Springvale Rugby and Hockey Tournament, and sponsoring fertiliser for Hillside Sports Club in Mutare. With more feet on the ground, we’re now better positioned to visit and support farmers across a wider area than ever before.

Golf Day
Our Annual Maguires Tobacco Industry Golf Day, held in June at Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club, was once again a standout occasion—both on and off the course. The event brought together farmers, suppliers, and industry partners for a well-deserved break from the demands of the season. It was a moment to breathe, relax, and connect, surrounded by good company and a beautiful setting. Each hole was sponsored by key players in the sector, creating valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration. And, as always, there were some fantastic prizes up for grabs—from gas braais to motorbikes—adding a fun (and competitive) edge to the day. While a few swings may have been more enthusiastic than accurate, the spirit of the day was right on target. For us at Maguires, the Golf Day is about more than just sport—it’s our way of giving back to the people who work tirelessly to keep Zimbabwe’s tobacco industry alive and thriving, and who continue to drive progress in agricultural technology, development, and sustainability.
